Houston Public Radio is a non-profit, listener-supported radio station that provides the Houston community with diverse free programming. Found at 88.7 FM, KUHF-FM “entertains, educates, and uplifts” its listeners with programs on arts, culture, and a variety of news topics.

Zhang & Associates is pleased to announce its sponsorship of KUHF for the 2007–2008 season. We have donated $20,000 to KUHF to support the high-quality, non-commercial programming that this station offers to the Houston community—including our Houston offices.

Founded in 1950, KUHF-FM was originally run by student volunteers from the University of Houston. The station hired a core staff and joined National Public Radio (NPR) in 1979. At that time, it played mostly jazz music.

Now, KUHF-FM alternates between classical music and NPR programming. Several of KUHF’s programs are produced in Houston, including:
 
• The Engines of our Ingenuity, which explores “the machines that make our civilization run, and the people whose ingenuity created them.”
• Houston in Concert, which plays live recordings of local classical music groups.
• The Front Row, which informs listeners about local performing arts and features live performances by guest musicians.

KUHF-FM also broadcasts nationally syndicated NPR programming, including the news programs Morning Edition and All Things Considered; Marketplace, the nation’s most popular radio show discussing business and the economy; and A Prairie Home Companion, a live variety show.

Zhang & Associates believes that KUHF-FM and other NPR affiliates enrich the community with non-commercial education and entertainment. We at Zhang & Associates consider free, public radio an essential part of any healthy community. We are excited to offer our support to KUHF-FM this year as a small part of our efforts to contribute to the community where some of us live and work.
